Free Contractor Calculators

Pull up a phone calculator on a job site and you spend more time fighting the interface than doing the math. Reference books are great until you need one out on the jobsite. We built these tools because we run the same calculations ourselves.

Some of them are bid tools. Base materials, aggregate tonnage, soil volumes, haul counts.  Quickly double check your own calculations.

A lot of these you use after the job starts. Pipe slope and invert on a drainage install. Grade conversions when your plans show ratio and your equipment wants percent. Feet-inch-fraction arithmetic for when your civil plans and tape measure are in conflicting different units. These are the numbers you need to keep work moving ahead.

Every tool runs on standard formulas and published density values from the Caterpillar Performance Handbook. Results you can copy, print, or save with your project files.

Convert plan section depths to decimal feet for Trimble, Topcon, Leica and others. Built for mobile and desktop use.

Trimble Earthworks Excavator Screen

Base Materials

Convert length, width, and depth into material weight in tons.  Imperial and metric. Prints a report you can save with your project files.

Bulldozer spreading rock on a construction site.

Soil Volumes

Convert bank, loose, and compacted cubic yards or metres. Imperial and metric. Prints a report you can save with your project files.

John Deere excavator loading soil into an articulated dump truck on an earthmoving jobsite.

Switch a slope between percent, ratio, and degrees in Imperial or Metric. Enter the form you have, our tool solves the rest.

Dozer grading a levee slope on a civil construction site with earthmoving equipment working in the background.

Pull area from your takeoff report and get tons in two inputs. Enter any two of area, depth, or tons and solve for the third.

Dump truck spreading crushed rock on a gravel road construction site

Turn bank yards into load counts and haul time. Handles swell, cycle time, and fleet efficiency. Trucks and scrapers.

Yellow Caterpillar 627 wheel tractor-scraper moving soil across a large earthmoving jobsite.

Solve for pipe slope, invert, run length, or fall in Imperial or Metric.

Enter any three, get the fourth.

Green sanitary sewer pipe installed in a trench with gravel bedding during underground utility construction.

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in feet-inches-sixteenths. Converts to decimal feet, meters, and inches.
