Leica Machine Control Models

Built for Leica iCON, MC1, GeoMax, and every system that runs on industry standard DXF and XML files.

Leica machine control models built right the first time. We deliver DXF and XML surface files that work with all Leica and GeoMax equipment, and with any machine control system that accepts industry standard file formats.

Our industry exclusive 3 business day turnaround time guarantees you'll be grading in no time.

We Deliver in the Format Your System Needs

Leica iCON and MC1 systems run on industry standard DXF and XML file formats. GeoMax, Leica's sister brand under Hexagon, uses the same iCON platform and accepts the same files.

We build and deliver your model in these formats so there is nothing for you to convert, flip, or troubleshoot back at the jobsite.

Leica iCON and MC1

  • DXF and XML surface files

  • Tri-mesh surfaces in DXF available on request

  • Works with all Leica iCON and MC1 machine control equipment

  • Background linework delivered in DXF

GeoMax

  • GeoMax runs on Leica's iCON platform

  • Same DXF and XML file compatibility as Leica

  • All Leica deliverables work on GeoMax equipment

Leica ConX

ConX Compatible

  • Files structured for upload to Leica ConX

  • Push designs to your Leica and GeoMax equipment from the office

  • Monitor machine positions and sync design updates remotely

Systems That Use Standard DXF and XML Formats

Leica and GeoMax are not the only systems that run on standard file formats. A growing number of machine control brands accept the same DXF and XML files we deliver for Leica. If you are running any of the systems below, our models work without conversion.

CHC Navigation

  • CHC systems (TD63, TG63, EX series) accept standard DXF and XML files

  • Same deliverables as Leica

Hemisphere GradeMetrix

  • Accepts DWG, DXF, and LandXML

  • Same deliverables work across your Hemisphere fleet

StoneX

  • StoneX machine control accepts industry standard DXF and XML

SiteBoss

  • SiteBoss GPS rovers and machine control accept DXF and LandXML

Futtura GradeMetrix

  • Futtura 3D grade control for dozers and excavators accepts DWG, DXF, and LandXML

iDig Connect 3D

  • iDig 3D excavator guidance accepts digital terrain models in DXF and LandXML format

MOBA

  • MOBA 3D machine control uses standard DXF, DWG and LandXML design files

Emlid

  • Emlid survey systems accept DXF and LandXML for layout and grade checking

Unicontrol

  • Unicontrol machine guidance accepts standard DXF and LandXML

Makin' 3D

  • Compatible with standard DXF and XML format files

Running Something Else?

  • If your machine control system accepts DXF, XML, or LandXML, our models will work with it.

  • Not sure? Call us at 515-505-3510 or email info@quantumlanddesign.com and we will confirm compatibility before we get started.

Three Steps to a Field Ready Leica Model

Step 1: Send us your plans

  • Email the full PDF plan set and CAD files (DWG, DXF, or DGN) to info@quantumlanddesign.com We will review the plans and send you a lump sum quote, usually the same day

Step 2: We Build Your Model

  • Our team builds your 3D surface model from the engineered plans, not from a CAD export or auto-generated surface. Every model is built by hand to match the engineer's design intent. We use standardized layer and surface names so your field crew is always working with familiar data.

Step 3: Load and Grade

  • You receive machine-ready files in 3 business days or less. Load them onto your Leica system and get to work. If something does not look right in the field, call or email. We'll look into it right away.

What's in Your Leica Model

Your model package is built to match the project scope and your specific requirements. Typical Leica deliverables include:

  • Finish grade 3D surface - the digital terrain model your dozer, grader, or excavator follows to cut and fill to design elevation

  • 2D background linework - building corners, curb lines, property lines, utility locations, erosion control and other reference features your operators use to orient themselves on site

  • 3D utility models - storm, sanitary, and water lines modeled in 3D for GPS-guided excavation (when included in scope).  All utility models include a 3D line and surface set to plan grades, usually flowline.

  • 3D paving models - stringless curb and gutter, full-width paving surfaces, and mill/overlay models for road projects - learn more here

  • 3D structural excavation models - footings, foundations, and thickened slabs modeled to the structural plans for rover layout and GPS excavators - learn more here

  • Custom surfaces - site drainage models, phased grading, laydown areas, or anything else your project needs

Every file is named and layered with a consistent convention. Your crew will know what they are loading without a phone call to the office.

Keep Your Best People in the Field

Building machine control models in-house means pulling your GPS lead out of the field and putting them behind a screen. The software alone runs $20,000+ upfront + maintenance update costs every year. Training cost/time, hardware, and lost field productivity stack on top of that.

We have built over 20,000 machine control models since 2013 and maintain active licenses for Leica iCON, Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, and other major civil design platforms. We do not ask you to export your CAD to a specific version. Just send us what you have.

Common Questions About Leica Models

Q: What file format will I receive?
A: DXF and XML surface files are the standard deliverables. Tri-mesh surfaces in DXF are available on request. Background linework is delivered in DXF. These same files work with GeoMax, CHC, Hemisphere, StoneX, SiteBoss, Futtura, iDig, MOBA, Emlid, Unicontrol, and any other system that accepts industry standard formats.

Q: Can I upload my model through Leica ConX?
A: Yes. We deliver files structured for ConX upload. You can push designs to your Leica and GeoMax fleet, manage projects, and monitor machine positions from the office.

Q: I run CHC, Hemisphere, SiteBoss, Futtura, iDig, or another brand. Will your models work?
A: Yes. All of these systems accept standard DXF and XML files. The same models we build for Leica work on these systems without conversion. If you are not sure about your specific equipment, call us at 515-505-3510 or email info@quantumlanddesign.com and we will confirm compatibility before you order.

Q: Do you build models for mixed fleets?

A: Yes. If you run Leica alongside Trimble, Topcon, or any other brand, we build the model once and export it in the correct format for each system. You do not need to order separate models for each brand.  No extra charge for multiple formats.

Q: How long does it take?
A: Most models are delivered within 3 business days.

Q: What do you need from me to get started?
A: The full set of construction plans in PDF and the matching CAD files (DWG, DXF, or DGN typically). Email them to info@quantumlanddesign.com for a free quote.

Q: What if my plans are in a format other than Autodesk Civil 3D?
A: No problem. We maintain licenses for every major civil design platform, including Leica iCON, MicroStation, Carlson, and Trimble Business Center. Send us what you have and we will work with it.
